Estate agent remanded for defrauding client

A Dei-Dei area court in Abuja on Monday ordered the remand of an estate agent, Emmanuel Obi, in a correctional centre for allegedly defrauding his client of N130,000.

The Judge, Saminu Suleiman, ordered that Obi be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Suleja until March 14, after he pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that on January 9, the defendant and one Robert Obi, now at large, collected N130,000 from the complainant and rented out a self-contained apartment for him at Dutse-Baupma.

He said that on January 17, when the complainant went to the house, he discovered that the defendant had given the room to another person and refused to refund his money. (NAN)
