An estate agent, Kabir Yamusa (32), has been charged before an area court in Kado, Abuja, for swindling the sum of N400,000 from a prospective tenant, Danjuma Lawal.
The prosecutor, DSP Stanley Nwanfor, told the court that the defendant was sometime in January, 2023, contacted by the complainant that he should secure an apartment for him in Jabi, Utako, but that after collecting N400,000 from him he neither provided the apartment nor the money.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Judge, Muhammad Adamu Wakili, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety and adjourned the case to April 26.
Similarly, a 32-year-old security guard, Paul Musa, of Sahara Dabo Estate, was charged before the court for the theft of several items worth N61,500.

The prosecutor, DSP Nwafor, told the court that the defendant sometime in January, 2023, trespassed into a house owned by one Nanribe Ishaku of Dabo Estate and stole a gas cylinder, three pairs of shoes and wrappers, all valued at N61,500.
The judge granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 and adjourned to April 27, 2023.
In another case, a scavenger, Jamiu Musa, was charged with theft of a manhole cover contrary to section 287 of the Penal Code.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant was on March 1, 2023, arrested with one manhole cover which he allegedly removed from the road which endangered the lives of road users.
The defendant denied the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 till April 25.
