Enyimba, Plateau Utd share spoils of war

  • Remo Stars lose again

It was a tough battle between Nigeria Professional Football League sides, Enyimba and Plateau United as there was no victor, no vanquished.

In the early fixtures of the Round 18 of the ongoing season, both sides ended the game with a goal apiece.

The People’s Elephant began the game with intensity and saw plenty of the ball in the opening exchanges with the visitors unable to leave their own half.

As the game wore on, the Jos based club who made 5 changes to the side that grinded out a win over Katsina United began to see the ball more but failed to test the Enyimba defence well.

However, their efforts were undone in the 28th minute when Enyimba’s topscorer Victor Mbaoma added to his tally with a brilliant finish.

He latched onto Oladapo’s exquisite ball over the defence line before lobbing the ball over a hapless Suraj Ayeleso.

In the second half, Plateau United sought to get back into the game with Enyimba goalkeeper, John Noble making a big save to deny Rabiu Zulkifilu but there was nothing he could do in the 71st minute as Austine Opara drew United level with a brilliant effort.

Both teams sought for the winning goal but that failed to materialise as the game ended 1-1 in Aba.

In the other game of the day, Remo Stars fell to a lone goal against Niger Tornadoes to record a fifth loss of the season.

Musa Wakili had scored the only goal in the fourth minute from the penalty spot.
