Enyimba have ended a four-game unbeaten run to inflict the fourth defeat on Remo Stars with a 2-1 victory in the Match Day 16 of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Enyimba started the game brightly creating chances upon chances but were missing the final cutting edge.

The People’s Elephant finally broke the deadlock in the 37th minute as former Remo star Victor Mbaoma put his side in front with a composed finish after a brilliant pass by Fatai Abdullahi.

At the restart of the second half, another former Remo Star Ekene Awazie doubled Enyimba’s lead. He finished Samuel Stone’s cut back after Remo’s playing out from the back backfired.

As the game wore on, the visitors were awarded a spot kick after Philip Ozor triped Ifegwu Ojukwu inside the box and Remo captain Junior Nduka stepped up and blasted home the spot kick to make it 2-1.

At the Aper Aku Stadium, Plateau United humbled hosts, Lobi Stars with a 2-0 victory.

The hosts pulled the strings in the first half but were unable to make it count with the visitors going ahead with a wonder goal in the 32nd minute through Izuchukwu Chimezie.

Albert Hilary doubled his side’s lead in the 90th minute as Lobi secured their 7th league loss.

In other games, Niger Tornadoes played a 1-1 draw with struggling MFM while Sunshine Stars defeated Heartland 3-1.

Katsina United stunned Dakkada FC with a 4-1 victory while defending champions, Akwa United defeated Wikki Tourists 2-0.

Gombe United defeated Abia Warriors by a lone goal while Kano Pillars fell to a 1-0 loss to table toppers, Rivers United.

Also, Nasarawa United were held to a 1-1 draw with Kwara United while Enugu Rangers and Shooting Stars also ended 1-1 in Ibadan.
