The governors of Enugu, Ogun, Nasarawa, and Bauchi states have signed the states’ 2021 budgets into law after they were passed by the respective house of assemblies recently.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, who signed the 2021 budget of N169.845 billion into law on Wednesday, promised that the 2021 budget will benefit the people of the state, for them to continue to enjoy democracy dividends.
Ugwuanyi had presented the budget on December 9 to the assembly. The budget passed was 13.8 per cent higher than the revised 2020 budget.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State also signed the N115.7bn budget into law. The budget was also raised from N112.92bn. Governor Sule said N51.05bn is for recurrent expenditure while N54.85bn is for capital project; N7bn is allocated to the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF), charges for debt servicing, pension and gratuity.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed also assented to the N213.9bn budget for 2021 as passed by the state lawmakers. Capital expenditure will gulp N92.9bn while N120.9bn is for recurrent expenditure.
He said on Wednesday that the 2021 budget was larger than that of 2020, explaining that it was designed to enable his administration consolidate on the achievements so far recorded in the provision of social amenities.
Equally, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun also signed the state’s N338. 6bn budget into law for 2021.
A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kunle Somorin said N162bn is for recurrent expenditure while N177bn is for capital expenditure, noting that implementation begins in January 2021.
