The Association of Entertainment Practitioners (AEP), has called on politicians and all stakeholders to complement the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in ensuring peaceful conduct of the forthcoming elections.

President of the Association, Chief Agility Onwurah made the call during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

Onwurah, who expressed concern over threats to the conduct of the elections said the call became necessary to further ensure continuous corporate existence of the country before, during and after the polls.

“We can not achieve our set objectives if we do not have a stable and united country therefore as we look forward to the general election this year we decry the state of insecurity and call on the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to step up his security operations and stop the spate of attacks on the facilities of the election umpire in order not to threaten the success of the polls.

“A disruption of the electoral calendar could lead to chaos and anarchy and it portends danger of alarming proportions for the country and we cannot afford a war at this time in our history therefore we call on our youths to resist the temptation to be used by anarchists to cause problems in Nigeria as that could throw Nigeria into the biggest humanitarian crisis on earth and challenge the security forces to deal decisively with anyone found in a position capable of derailing our common objective as a nation which is ‘unity, peace and progress'” he said

Onwurah added that AEP is poised to play its part in ensuring a united Nigeria for the future and next generation of the country.
