Chief of Army Staff, General Toereed Lagbaja, has charged army commanders to enhance their professional competency in order to tackle security challenges in the country.
Lagbaja called on army personnel to also justify the laudable efforts made by the leadership of Nigerian Army in organizing training programs for its personnel by consistently executing all assigned tasks in the most efficient and professional manner.
Speaking through the Chief of Training, Army, Major General SG Mohammed, at the second commanding officers training, 2024, held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Tuesday, urged the participants to actively engage in all the activities lined up for workshop saying the key takeaway will not only serve as a reminder of what they have gained but will also guide future actions and commitments.
He charged the participants to continue to ensure the safety and security of the country.

He said, “I am pleased to see our tactical Commanders who have assembled here today in other to enhance their professional competencies to confront the various security challenges that our great nation is facing today. The theme of the workshop “enhancing tactical level command and leadership with the joint environment” is not only timely but also critical to this dynamic security landscape.
“As commanding officers you hold a significant responsibility in ensuring operational effectiveness and this theme underscores the importance of adopting to the complex and interconnected nature of modern security challenges.
“The objectives set for this workshop lies with our collective goals of improving operational efficiency and administrative competency of our tactical level commanders.
“The workshop will also provide opportunities to all to sensitize ourselves on the on going transformation and innovation efforts of the Nigerian army. I am confident that through the presentations , discussions and problem solving sessions you will be equipped in knowledge and skills necessary to led effectively in your various command.
“The lectures that have been prepared and designed to be informative and thought provoking the thought of vital aspect of modern military leadership, operational readiness including our various transformational efforts as well as managing the emerging threats and ensuring the security and serviceability of our equipment.
“The various discussions that you will hold on various problems crafted around the various scenarios within your divisions as well as units areas of responsibilities will afford you that unique opportunities and you will be able to deliberate and come forth with various solutions on how to tackle the emerging threats within your various areas of responsibilities.
“I wish at this point express my profound gratitude to President Tinubu for his strategic guidance and unflinching support to the Nigerian army. Mr President unwavering commitment to restore total peace to our dear country has contributed immensely to the success of our operations .”
