The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) on Saturday announced the postponement of its National Delegates Conference scheduled to hold between October 26 and 27 in Abuja.
The postponement, according to a statement issued by SSANU’s National Public Relations Officer Abdusobur Salaam, was as a result of the ongoing #EndSARS protests.
It read partly, “Arising from the developments all over the Country with respect to the #endsars protests and the ensuing violence and curfews across the States of the Federation, we are compelled to inform you that the National Delegates Conference earlier scheduled for Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th October 2020 has been postponed.
“A new date shall be communicated as soon as the situation is normalized. We apologise for any inconveniences this change of date may have caused you as the situation is beyond our control.”
It would recalled that this is the second time SSANU would be postponing its National Delegates Conference to elect new national executive officers.
The association had earlier scheduled to hold the election on the last week of March this year but the election could not hold because of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown imposed by the federal government to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
