#EndSARS: Police give N160m to deceased officers’ families

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Thursday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja presented 39 cheques worth N160m to the families of police officers killed during the #EndSARS protest.

Adamu said the gesture was to clear insinuations in various quarters that Nigerian Police would abandon the families of those who paid supreme price while serving their nation.

The IGP said the Force Insurance Unit was able to process and pay the entitlement of the police officers in record time.

“I do appreciate that no monetary reward can compensate for the lives of loved ones and breadwinners, but our prayers are with families of affected officers,” Adamu said.

He said group personal accident medical expenses were being processed and would be paid in due course, adding that he had ordered the promotion of injured personnel as well as the post-humous promotion for those who lost their lives.
