Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) under the leadership of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has appealed for calm from both the protesters and the military to prevent plunging the country into a state of anarchy.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna and signed by its Secretary-General, Dr Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, JNI further appealed to the genuine protesters to kindly withdraw from the streets for now to give the government the chance to deal decisively with the hoodlums who, he said, have hijacked the protest.

He then urged the government to continue to apply restraint and maturity in handling the situation as the atmosphere is so tense that any misstep by the government will spell doom for the country.
JNI also called on religious leaders to use their sermons on Friday to passionately appeal to the conscience of their followers to be calm, avoid inflammatory utterances and eschew any action that would bring about the disruption of law and order in society.
