#EndSARS: Buhari meets Defense Minister, CDS

President Muhmmadu Buhari on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with the Minister of Defense, Major General Bashir Magashi, and the Chief of Defense Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

No official information was released after the meeting. But presidential sources said the talks focused on how to address the escalating violence trailing the #EndSARS protests across the country.

Lagos, Ekiti, Abia, Plateau and Edo States had imposed a 24-hour curfew to curtail the violent attacks on police stations and other critical infrastructure.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had equally banned street protests which eventually resulted to casualties.

The protests in the last 48 hours had recorded deaths, while property worth millions of naira were also destroyed.

Despite the commitment of government at all levels to meet the initial five-point demand of the protesters, they have refused to stop protests by coming up with new demands on daily basis.

Meanwhile, armed thugs holding sticks were seen at Eagle Square on Tuesday.

Security at Three Arms Zone which houses strategic buildings like the two chambers of National Assembly, the Presidential Villa, Federal Secretariat, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal premises, the Nigeria Police Headquarters was beefed up.

Armed policemen and soldiers deployed in the Supreme Court gate of the Presidential Villa and the troops manning the Cenotaph directly opposite the Eagle Square were at alert with the presence of security agents on horses and inside Armoured Personnel Carrier in the area.
