#EndSARS protesters in Lagos have hired the services of private security guards, popularly known as bouncers, to provide them some cover and protection at the protest ground.

This followed persistent attacks on protesters by suspected thugs who were believed to have been sponsored.

The suspected hoodlums and thugs Thursday dispersed #EndSARS protesters, calling for an end to brutality allegedly perpetrated by the now dissolved officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police.

Daily Trust reports that despite the dissolution of the SARS as announced by the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, protests have continued in parts of Lagos, Abuja and other states.

The sustained protests in Lagos, however, turned violent when some thugs allegedly attacked the protesters at Alausa secretariat axis on Wednesday.

When they thought the disruption of the protest was over and protesters converged on the Alausa secretariat for the continuation of the protest on Thursday, they were again attacked by thugs who dispersed them.

The suspected attackers on Thursday arrived in three BRT buses to disrupt the protest.

The attackers were brandishing different harmful objects such as knives, cutlass as they alighted from the BRT blue bus to disperse the protesters drawing condemnation especially on the social media.

The protesters were also attacked by thugs at Berger along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

But as soon as the suspected hoodlums left, the protesters began to regroup at the Alausa venue with some private security guards providing cover.

One of the protesters, 27-year old Onyinyechukwu Samuel, who spoke with our correspondent, said they were not deterred by the attack, saying the protesters are more determined to continue with their agitation.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Union of the Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Council, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo) has denied the allegations that he sent his ‘boys’ after #EndSARS protesters.

In a video made viral by MC Oluomo, he described allegations of his sponsorship on the attacks on EndSARS protesters at Alausa as mischievous, insisting that he is in support of the quest to reform the police force.
