#EndSARS: Arewa Youth, Miyetti Allah raise alarm over activities of hoodlums

Leadership of the Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) and the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Fulani socio-cultural association has raised alarm on the activities of hoodlums which they said have taken over the peaceful #EndSARS protest across the country.

Addressing separate press conferences in Kaduna on Monday, the Speaker of the assembly, Mohammed Salihu Danlami as well as the National President and Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Fulani Socio-Cultural Association, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo and Engineer Saleh Alhassan called on Nigerians to adopt legitimate ways to tender their grievances.

According to Danlami, “In light of the current happenings in various parts of the country, with regards to the #EndSARS protest, our attention has been drawn to the activities of hoodlums across the country who have taken charge of the process to perpetrate their evil act by causing menace to an already agitated society.

“While we understand that it is the civic rights of all Nigerians to put forward their agitation via peaceful protest or other means that conforms with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we must also understand the every Nigerian reserves the right to safer environments to go about their normal businesses, hence any effort by miscreants to disrupt this peace will be met with stiff resistance.”

He called on the president and commander in chief to act swiftly and put an end to all the madness on the street since the aim has been compromised saying, “We are no longer comfortable with what might come up next, Nigeria is not a banana republic, everyone must be reminded of this fact.”

However, the representatives of Miyetti Allah stated that since the Federal Government has heard and accepted the issues raised by the protesters, it is only wise for the protesters to stop as the government needs time to implement their demands.

He informed that the protests have yielded the desired results with the government accepting their genuine demands and working to address all of them adding, “For us, Nigerian citizens came out to demand for justice and the government responded positively.”

“It is therefore unacceptable for the protesters to now involve blocking of roads, thereby denying other citizens the right to use the roads. This is an attempt to ground the country and create more suffering in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.

“The ethnic and regional colouration of the protests, where some people from certain regions are trying to undermine and overthrow a democratically elected government or intimidate the North to give up its rights to rule beyond 2023 is uncalled for.”

They added, “The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore called on the sponsors of this particular protest headed by the former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as exposed by Prof. Adebesi of University of Ibadan to immediately stop this demonstration.

“Our findings also revealed that the former Lagos Governor is the sole financier of the ongoing protest having lost out in the plans to contest the Presidential election under the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2023. His game plan is to bring down the administration of President Muahammadu Buhari, since he can no longer realize his Presidential ambition.

“We will hold him accountable should anything happen to President Buhari’s administration. To avoid this, he must immediately put the protest to an end while the Federal Government put in modalities to address the challenges confronting the nation.”
