The Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, has advised youth in Zamfara to participate in community development projects as part of their contributions to the growth of the society.
Bello gave the advice in his palace in Gusau last Tuesday during a courtesy visit by members of the Labour Room Initiative, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
The emir, who was represented by the Secretary to the Emirate, Alhaji Sambo A-Sambo said, “We thank you for this visit; we commend you for this initiative. We are calling on you to always be united and work together for your future development.”
Earlier, the Labour Room Youth governor in the state, Nura Isa-Gusau, said the organisation was an initiative of some patriotic Nigerians working for the progress of the state.
“We are in Gusau Emirate Council to inform the people about “Keep Zamfara Clean,” an initiative to support environmental sanitation in this state.
“As royal fathers, we are here to seek your blessing and advice and assistance in mobilising the public in achieving our target,” he said.
Isa-Gusau said the initiative was aimed at improving public awareness on good sanitation practices to promote people’s well-being.
“That is why we came up with the initiative, `Keep Zamfara Clean’. Apart from clearing waste from major streets, we are also conducting sensitisation campaigns through the media to the people of the state on the importance of keeping our environment clean,” he said.
The group charged stakeholders to support government’s efforts at ensuring clean and healthy environment for the citizens. “We are also appealing to the state government to revive the Zamfara Environmental Sanitation Agency (ZESA) in order to improve sanitation activities in the state,” Isa-Gusau said.
