The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has advocated improved access to vaccination to strengthen and ensure quality health coverage for the people of the state.
The Emir made the call when he received New Incentives-All Babies Are Equal (NI-ABAE) Initiative who paid him a courtesy visit in his palace.
He said, “I assure you of our full support. I encourage every NI-ABAE staff to consider this work a sacred task with eventual rewards from God. Please be mindful that different people require different approaches. As you expand into other communities, collaborate with the right stakeholders and maintain a respectful approach.”
The Emir mentioned that the emirate’s health committee is actively working to ensure quality health for the people of Kano while pledging the full support of the Kano State Emirate Council’s Committee on Health (KASECCOH) for the All Babies programme as it was already approved and supported by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’adu Abubakar.

He emphasized that the initiative should promptly involve relevant stakeholders for advice and to resolve issues in the face of any challenges.
Earlier, the NI-ABAE’s Senior Stakeholder Manager (SSM), Zaraharadden Sabi’u, highlighted that the All Babies programme as a symbol of advancement is committed to promoting and strengthening public health.
The programme launched after a house-to-house survey conducted across some selected local government areas identified that a significant barrier to caregivers bringing their babies for immunization was the lack of transport funds.
He said, “This is why NI-ABAE provides cash incentives totalling ₦6,000 throughout six visits to caregivers who bring their children for routine vaccinations against childhood killer diseases.”
He disclosed that since launching of the programme in February in Kano, it is now operational across 41 LGAs in over 1,000 public primary healthcare facilities and has disbursed ₦528 million to caregivers, enrolling over 250,000 children for vaccination across the state.
