The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has lamented the perennial flooding usually experienced by communities within the areas of operation of the Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).
Speaking when the management of the HYPPADEC visited his palace in Ilorin Saturday, the emir called on the management to find a lasting solution to the flood issue.
According to him, the annual flood occurrence as a result of release of water from the hydro-power stations usually caused colossal damages to farmlands and residential buildings in the affected communities.
Sulu-Gambari, who expressed his support for the team, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari’s led federal government for ensuring the take-off of the scheme.
Addressing journalists at the end of the three-day familiarisation tour to benefitting communities, chairman, Governing Council of HYPPADEC, Joseph Terfa Ityav, said the commission would leave no stone unturned in finding solutions to the menace of incessant flooding in its areas of operation.
