Emir of Gwandu extols late Dikko’s contributions to Kebbi devt

The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Illiyasu Bashar, has commended the former Attorney-General of Kebbi State, the late Abubakar Boyi Dikko,  his immense contributions to the progress and development of Kebbi state.

The emir, during a fidau prayer held for Dikko at the Emir’s Palace in Birnin Kebbi, described him as a hardworking pioneer civil servant who had done well for the state and its people.

He said Dikko would be remembered for all the good things God had made him to do for his state and his people.

The royal father enjoined other personalities in the state to emulate Dikko’s contributions to the state and humanity; while praying Allah to forgive his sins and grant him Aljanah firdaus.

The late Dikko, who was born in 1954,,died on February 22, 2019 at the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, after a brief illness.

He was a three-time Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General.

He was first appointed as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the old Sokoto State before kebbi State was created.

He became the first Kebbi State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during the first civilian administration of Abubakar Musa Yauri in 1992. He served as commissioner with the likes of Alhaji Garba Dandiga who is now the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Alhaji Muhammed zailani Yauri.

The late Dikko was appointed for the third time as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during the second term of Usman Dakingari’s administration from 2008 to 2012.

One of his contemporaries, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim, said Dikko would be remembered for his selfless contributions to the development of Kebbi State.

Dikko was a board member the Federal Inland Revenue Service from 2008 to 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Hajiya Halima, six children and three grandchildren.
