The Emir of Gona in Gombe State, Alhaji Umar Abdulkadir Abdussalam, has called on the government and affluent individuals to provide support to youths, the less privileged and women in Gombe State.

He warned that neglecting such vulnerable groups could lead to social disgrace and chaos.

In an interview in his palace, the emir emphasised the pivotal role of youths in society, stating that their neglect could have far-reaching negative consequences.

He, therefore, urged the government to create employment opportunities and engage the youths in meaningful activities, highlighting the recent employment of 500 youths in road security and safety by GOSTEC as a positive initiative.

The emir also voiced concerns on the increasing cases of helplessness, begging, rape and child exploitation, citing a recent incident in the Barunde area of his emirate, where a woman was arrested for selling children born through tragic circumstances.

He called on authorities to remain vigilant and ensure that perpetrators were brought to justice, warning that inaction would be disastrous for the community.

The emir also stressed the importance of upholding moral values, and appealed to everyone to fear God and do what was right, reiterating that the government and wealthy individuals must assist the less privileged to avoid disgrace and chaos.
