The emir had visited the scene of the fire, the palace of the emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero and the residence of one of the victims, Alhaji Sani Buhari Daura. While sympathising with the traders, he said the market was a symbol of pride to the nation.

Emir Faruk told the traders to regard the tragedy as a will of Allah and pray to Him to restore their lost wealth. “It is a very sad incident. You should embrace the loss as an act of Allah so that He will reward you abundantly,” said the emir.

While sympathising with Alhaji Sani Buhari Daura, whose shopping complex was gutted by the fire, Alhaji Faruk said the loss of the property was a monumental one not only to Kano people but to the entire people of Nigeria.

“I have come to sympathise with my home. Kano is a home to Daura people because we have a lot of our people here in Kano who are good ambassadors of Daura emirate. Our sons like Walin Daura are some of them,” said the royal father.

In his response, Alhaji Sani Buhari Daura, expressed gratitude to the emir for sparing time to sympathise with his subjects, saying the emir’s visit has eased their agony.
