Emir of Anka asks engineers to produce fire-fighting machines

The Emir of Anka and chairman of Zamfara State Council of chiefs, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, has challenged Nigerian engineers to locally fabricate small holder fire-fighting equipment to minimize huge loss caused by fire outbreaks.

He spoke in Gusau yesterday at a stakeholders’ meeting on disaster management organized by the National Emergency Management Agency.

He said the engineers should ensure local production of small holder fire fighting equipment instead of relying on heavy machines that must have at least 30,000 litres of water.

He canvassed for synergy among stakeholders in disaster management even as he tasked the NEMA on prevention of disasters, especially the man-made ones, instead of giving donations to victims.
