Embattled Adamawa APC Chairman resigns

The embattled chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ibrahim Bilal, has finally resigned from office.

This is coming a few weeks after he was impeached by the 25 members of the state working committee of the party.

The resignation letter endorsed by the national Vice Chairman Northeast, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, was dated 13 September, 2022.

In the letter, Bilal apologised to members of the party over the inconveniences his sudden resignation might cause.

“I write to inform you that I’m resigning from my elected position as the Adamawa State chairman of our great party, APC.

“While the constitution of APC requires me to occupy the office until 2026, I will be grateful if I will cease from becoming the chairman immediately. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this sudden news may cause.

“Grateful for the fantastic opportunity you have offered me to serve this great party in Adamawa State. I wish to thank you personally for your graciousness and leadership.

“I hereby assure you of my unalloyed loyalty and commitment to the ideals of our great party and will do everything legally possible to advance its course,” the letter reads.

Aggrieved members of the party had passed a vote of no confidence in Bilal, requesting that he should be replaced over alleged misconduct.

They had requested his deputy, Samaila Tadawus, to replace him, although Bilal had sought an interim order barring Tadawus from acting as the APC chairman.
