The family of the Chairman, United Bank for Africa, Tony Elumelu, has supported 10 orphanage homes, doling out food items and cash donations of N10 million to each home in Lagos.

The food items distributed included rice, beans, milk, sugar and noodles.

She highlighted the challenges faced by the founders and workers of orphanage homes, commending their efforts in taking care of the children.

“We are trying to support in our own little way and the least we can to support those who have dedicated their lives is to give to these children,” she said.

Expressing gratitude, Laja Adedoyin, founder of Heart of Gold Children Hospices, appreciated the gestures extended to the children, acknowledging the essence of food on their health.

“We are humbled to welcome the wife of the chairman of UBA Group for what they have done. It is so unbelievable. In the history of Heart of Gold Children’s Hospices, it has never happened with the magnitude of the foodstuffs that they brought for my children.

“Food is life. At this present moment, if you have food in Nigeria today, you have everything,” she said.

The Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communication, UBA, Alero Ladipo, explained that a survey was carried out to determine the needs of the orphanage homes, saying the initiative was based on the results from the survey.
