A thirty two-year-old man has been arraigned before an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for allegedly stealing a marriage certificate belonging to the wife of a pastor in Kubwa.
Mike Chinedu of Guida village, was charged with theft, an offence that contradicts Section 287 of the penal code.
The police prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the complainant, Judith Agha, of Arab Road, Kubwa, on October 7, reported at the Kubwa Police Station that the accused acted in a dubious manner and stole her marriage certificate.
He said the accused also made away with her landed documents, pastoral certificate, four pairs of suits valued at N140,000 and the cash sum of N80,000 without her consent.
When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N250,000 by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with one reasonable surety who must be a civil servant resident within the court’s jurisdiction
The case was adjourned to November 18 for hearing.
