Voting for the gubernatorial election has commenced in some polling units across Kano State as early as 8am, Daily Trust can report.
Unlike during the presidential poll, election materials was deployed to polling units in time this time around.
Daily Trust also observed that security personnel and eligible voters converged on polling units as early as 6am.
At Giginyu polling unit, an eligible voter, Malam Yahaya Isa commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for improving on its preparations.
He said: “The commission has brought election materials to the polling units in time. From all indications, the gubernatorial election will be faster than that of presidential because things are moving smoothly and faster.”
Also at Badawa Primary school polling unit, voters expressed satisfaction with security arrangements.
Malam Muhammad Bello Jafar said police and other security personnel were brought to the polling units as early as 5:30am.
“So when we came to the polling units around 7am, we found everything intact. As I am speaking to you, I have already cast my vote and I am now leaving because I have nothing to do here again,” he said.
