Gumi said yesterday at a news conference that there was no basis to delay the elections.
“To be honest with you, Nigeria is still learning, even if you give a hundred years, it can never be enough. So, no matter what, elections must still be held. We can never be perfect. We are passing through a very difficult stage now”, he said.
He said controversies would emerge on the kind of government to be formed if elections are postponed, adding that the use of the social media would be an efficient way to disseminate election results but decried poor internet coverage in the country.
Dr. Gumi said he had no interest in politics and would stay away from partisan activities.
“If anybody has the notion that I am supporting any candidate, I think it is very unfair to me because I have for long seen where the nation is heading to, which I advised the two parties”, he added.
