The Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi, yesterday ordered security agents and voters to demobilise anyone carrying ballot boxes and arms during the general elections in the state.
Umahi noted that the directive came from the president and must be obeyed.
He also ordered security agents to deal decisively with anyone spreading fake news and fomenting trouble to destabilize the elections.
The governor gave the order while addressing journalists in his office at the Centenary City, the new government house, Abakaliki.

Umahi insisted that the elections must be peaceful and that people must be allowed to vote for candidates of their choice.
He further said he had ensured the zoning of all the elective positions in the state, stressing that the idea was in continuation of equity and equal representation in the general elections.
“Anyone carrying gun during the elections must be demobilised. Anyone carrying ballot boxes must be demobilised. This is the directive of Mr President and it must be obeyed.
“I have directed security agents to deal decisively with anyone that will cause violence. No one will take power in the state by violence,” he stated.
