Election shift: ‘Nigeria needs re-colonization’

Following the postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly (NASS) elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, a Lagos-based Public Relations expert; Mohammed M. Abdullahi has called for the re-colonization of Nigeria.

INEC had postponed last Saturday’s Presidential and NASS election to February 23, 2019; attributing the postponement to logistics and operational problems.

Reacting to the election shift, Abdullahi described INEC as part of Nigeria’s disjointed society where nothing works.

“Absolutely nothing works as the nation keeps either repeating same mistakes of yester-years or committing worse ones.

“I strongly feel that Nigeria as a nation needs re-colonization. The debate should be whether the country should be re-colonized either by America, Europe, China, Ghana or a combination of all.

“INEC had four years to prepare for this election and had repeatedly gave assurances of its readiness all along till the early hours of the election day. What have we learnt from history?” he queried.

While he stated that he has increasing less faith in the present crop of Nigerian leaders, he lamented that the younger generations of supposed leaders have not shown any positive zeal either.

While some Nigerians are calling for the resignation of the INEC chairman, the Public Relations expert said his resignation will not do INEC or Nigeria any good at this moment.
