Following Saturday’s announcement by Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai that he tested positive for COVID-19, his wife, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai has disclosed that she would get tested on Sunday.
El-Rufai emerged as the first COVID-19 case in Kaduna and the second governor to be diagnosed with the disease after the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed was also confirmed positive within the week.
However, Hadiza while thanking Nigerians for their prayers and good wishes since her husband’s result was made public said El-Rufai is doing well and still asymptomatic.
She tweeted, ”Thanks, tweeps, for all the prayers and good wishes. The governor is doing well; still asymptomatic. I’m getting tested later today. So, keeping fingers crossed. Meanwhile, life (of self-isolation) goes on…”
El-Rufai said he is in self-isolation as required by the case management guidelines of the Nigeria Centre, for Disease Control (NCDC) for someone that is not showing symptoms.
He appealed to the people of Kaduna to continue to closely observe the preventive measures already announced adding, “It is most important that everybody should do their utmost to stay safe, stay home and stay alive.”
