Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, running mate to Governor Nasiru El-Rufai in 2019 elections, on Tuesday urged the people of Kaduna State to cultivate the spirit of tolerance, end the needless killings and support each other to live in an environment that promotes understanding, joy, and brotherliness.
In her Christmas message, Balarabe said the spirit of Christmas “is all about appreciating God and His mercies upon us. I appeal to all to allow the joy of the season transcend the painful circumstances in which so many of us might have found ourselves.”
“As we come together to celebrate the season, let us also remember the less privileged, extend love to all and forgive one another as God in His magnanimity has done and always does. Let us eschew religious intolerance, and imbibe peaceful coexistence.
“Let us use this season of love to promote positive and enduring peace, to discourage/stop all hate speeches and support each other to live as God had intended us to. Our unity should be in our diversity.”
She said through his life and teachings, Jesus Christ showed that “God’s love overcomes all boundaries that divide us: such as barriers that are created by religion, social and economic statuses, age, gender, or political allegiance.”
Mrs Balarabe said “Kaduna State is rising above all such barriers and a new sense of hope is emerging. It is the dawn of a new day. The government has been working hard and will not relent in its efforts to promote the things that unite us as a people.”
She urged the people of the state to “support all initiatives put in place to make Kaduna State home for all Nigerians and foreigners alike.”
She called on Nigerians to continue to pray fervently for the unity of the country and Kaduna state.
