El-Rufai thanks Kaduna traders for shunning violence

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-rufai, has commended traders in the state capital for shunning violence during the recent crises in some parts of the state.

The governor, who personally went to the Kaduna Central Market to address the traders who gathered under the auspices of the Phones and Laptops Village Association of Kaduna state, said he finds it necessary to meet with the traders who are mostly youth to hear their personal experiences.

El-Rufai said he was also there to sympathize with the traders for the restrictions placed on movements during the crisis which must have affected their businesses.

The governor who also hailed them for their role in restoring peace and protecting the market during the crisis explained that the curfew became necessary to protect lives and property.

“I’m happy that things are getting better and curfew relaxed to enable you pursue your legitimate business.

“The second reason I’m here is to thank you and commend you for keeping the peace in this market and part of the state. This is because whenever there is crisis in Kaduna, as you know, it is the young people and women that suffer the most,” he said.

While commending the youth that no life was lost at the market, Governor El-Rufai said it is the youth that are killed and their future destroyed any time there is crisis.

“No life was lost in troubled areas like Gonin Gora and this is because young people like you stood up and said no more violence. I want to thank you and urge you to continue with the peace,” he said.

The governor advised the traders to be law-abiding saying their future, that of Kaduna state and Nigeria are in their hands, “depending on what you do to build it.”

El-rufai also described Kaduna state as home of every Nigerian, saying anybody that comes to live in the state is a citizen.

“So, don’t allow anyone to tell you that this one is from this religion or that religion; work together to develop yourselves.

“I’m happy that many of you are engaged in your own businesses without waiting for anybody to come and give you a job and I want to assure you that the government will come in and support you,” he added.
