Alhaji Sungun Mai-Mele the Commissioner of Sports stated this in an interview with newsmen in Maiduguri.
Mele said that the players were selected based on their performance at a pre-season trial conducted by the club.
He said that the object was to solidify the team and ensure a successful campaign at the league.
“We have recruited 12 new players for the El-Kanemi Warriors FC to prepare ground for the league season.
“The players were actually selected out of those who took part at the pre-season trial conducted by the club,” Mai-Mele said.
He added: “The essence of the recruitment was to beef up all departments of game, especially areas where we are notice some deficiency.
“The players came from clubs like Taraba United FC, Abia Warriors, Gombe United and Prime FC among others”.
Mai-Mele said that two goal keepers were among those recruited due to an urgent demand for goal keepers in the team.
He assured that the state government will provide all the necessary support for the club to excel at the league.
