The management of Eko Hotels and Suites has reiterated its commitment to promoting an eco-friendly way of life in the hospitality industry.

The intent is to enhance sustainable environment and contribute to efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change.

This emerged, on Monday, during the maiden Eco-friendly Children Painting Contest organised by the foremost hospitality company as part of celebration of the 2019 Earth Day.

The occasion also witnessed massive tree planting by stakeholders led by the Chairman of Eko Hotels and Suites, Mr. Christopher Chagoury and supported by invited guests and other participants.

The chairman stressed that the management of the hotels decided to embrace eco-friendly and green practices to support the environment and mitigate the effects of climate change.

He said the staff have been trained on championing the eco-friendly drive with keen interest, adding that energy consumption has significantly reduced, several water conservation practices adopted and utensils/amenities being replaced with biodegradable options.

“We are far more than just a global and local leader, we are the equivalent of a community that hosts over 500,000 clients each year providing them with water, energy, food and a hospitable environment,” he said.

Managing director of the hotels, Mr. Ghassan Faddoul, said the green programme is a long-term project designed to promote clean and sustainable development.

He disclosed that new trees would be planted in the hotels every month for the next 10 months, adding that massive sensitisation is being driven on cost and life-saving benefits of embracing green practices.
