Ekiti SCIA urges Muslims to be active in politics, education

Stakeholders at the Ekiti State Council for Islamic Affairs, SCIA, have called on Muslims not to sit on the fence, but to participate fully in the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.

The body charged the Muslim faithful to contribute meaningfully towards entrenching the country’s democracy and the emergence of a widely accepted presidential candidate in the country.

Malam Junaid Yunus, a Muslim scholar, said Muslims would benefit more in politics by actively participating rather than being just observers.

SCIA called on the government to employ more Islamic and Arabic teachers in public schools in the state while concerned stakeholders were urged to rescue the Esure Central Mosque from collapsing.

The President of SCIA in Ekiti State, Dr. Hammed Bakare, congratulated the Muslim community over the recent appointment of Dr.  Habibat Omolara Adubiaro, as the Secretary to Ekiti State Government (SSG).

He commended the state governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji for heeding the calls of Muslims as regards political appointments even though more are still being expected.

Alhaji Bakare also urged Muslim parents to send their children to school to acquire Western and Islamic education in a bid to gain relevance in various spheres of life in the society.
