Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has picked the immediate past Chairman of Ado Local Government, Kazeem Deji Ogunsakin, as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

Ogunsakin, 39, was picked on Friday, after an extensive consultation with various stakeholders, including the youths and the Muslim community in the state.

The statement added that Ogunsakin’s choice who was also informed by the need to involve the younger generation in the governance of the state in line with the global tenets as well as give the Muslim community in the state a sense of belonging.

The Muslim community in the state had a few months ago demanded the choice of a Muslim as a deputy governor as condition to support Governor Ayo Fayose’s annointed candidate, Olusola.

"Furthermore, it is our belief that Ado-Ekiti, being the state capital with the largest voting population, deserves consideration for the deputy governorship position," the statement added.

The PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, who is a graduate of Economics from the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, holds a Masters’ degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos.
