The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ekiti State Command has arrested sixteen cows for allegedly destroying some farms in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Ekiti State Commandant, NSCDC, Mr. Solomom Iyamu, while parading the cows at the command headquarters in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, appealed to herders in the state to desist from grazing in people’s farms, stressing that they can graze their animals without destroying, killing and maiming farmers.

Iyamu, noted that the 16 cows were arrested after the herders evaded arrest and fled during a swift response from the Agro Ranger Unit of the command. He noted that the herders fled upon sighting the NSCDC operatives.
“The State command received an emergency call from one of the farmers around Datunchi farms in Ikere-Ekiti, while the Manager of Datunchi Farm also called for assistance as he explained that some herders have been destroying their farms by feeding their animals with harvested crops and wasted other farm produce in the farms for over one month,” he said.
The NSCDC boss pointed out that someone has shown up to claim the ownership of the cows arrested but the command is still investigating further to ascertain the real owner of the cows and the alleged destruction of farms in the community.
