An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced a 35-year-old Daramola Oyindamola to 56 years imprisonment.

Oyindamola was arraigned on a six-count charge bordering on fraud and forgery.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Barrister Tunde Abon, told the court that on October 3, 2014, behind Bobas High School on Anaye Street, Ikere Ekiti, the accused did with false pretense obtained N600,000 from one Mrs Akole.

Also, that on October 5, 2014, the accused stole a N600,000 from the same Mrs Akole.

He further said that on October 19, 2014, Oyindamola supplied false information, procured an affidavit of change of ownership of a land executed before a commissioner for oath sitting at the high court and a magistrate’s court in Ikere Ekiti respectively.

 That on November 6, 2014, the accused supplied false information to procure execution of police extract at the Area Command, Ado-Ekiti.

And that with intent to defraud, the accused made titled documents without authority (legal backup/ legal recommendation of transfer of land) on a forged letterhead paper purportedly belonging to a law firm and signed by some Nigerian Bar (NBA) chieftains.

In his statement, one of the witnesses who claimed to be an estate agent, said the accused introduced himself as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court, adding that he also dealt in buying and selling of property.

The prosecutor called three witnesses and tendered affidavits.

The accused, who spoke through his counsel, State Coordinator of the Legal Aid Council, Olayinka Opaleke, called no witness.

Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi, in his ruling, said from the uncontroverted evidence adduced by the prosecution before the court he found and held that the prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt on counts 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Justice Ogunyemi convicted and sentenced him to 56 years imprisonment.
