Ekiti state government said it is generating about N1m daily from revenue generated through renewal of vehicle particulars and driver’s licenses in the state.
A statement by the state Ministry of Information said no fewer than 77 motor vehicles and hundreds of motorcycles popularly called “okada” without valid particulars had been impounded by law enforcement agents since inspection of vehicle particulars commenced a week ago.
The Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Mr. Ropo Ogunjobi, who made this known in Ado-Ekiti,
explained that the exercise was to guarantee safety and security on roads in the state, adding that the move would ensure that only properly licensed drivers and vehicles with valid papers are allowed on the roads.
