The police boss said this at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday during an interview with State House correspondents. He said as the lead agency of internal security in collaboration and partnership with other security agencies, the police did what was right in Ekiti State.
“We used Ekiti to showcase the fact that it is possible for Nigerian security agencies to conduct free, fair and credible elections in this country. This should be taken as a test case; we will do everything to improve upon it,” Abubakar said.
According to a separate statement issued by the Force’s spokesman, CSP Frank Mba said: “The IGP is particularly pleased with the very high level of comportment, discipline, orderliness, patience and understanding exhibited by the citizens throughout the period of the election.”
The IGP called for a similar level of citizens’ cooperation and support for the Police and other relevant agencies in other places especially in Osun state where elections will take place soon.
