Winners of the Prince Adeyemi Imperial Alabi SWAN Cup 2020 edition of the Ekiti State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, have been decided.

The Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, BSES, won the 1st and 2nd positions while the Correspondents Chapel, took the third position, in the fourth edition.

The Chairman, SWAN, Ekiti State, Mr. Deji Ogunsakin, in his welcome speech said this year’s SWAN Cup/Get together is the 4th edition which featured table tennis game.

Ogunsakin recalled that the maiden edition of Prince Adeyemi Imperial Alabi SWAN Cup featured the game of table tennis and we are repeating that this year in honour of the late Table Tennis coach, Bode Ajayi who passed on this year.

The chairman noted that “in recognition of his contributions to the game at both the state, national and international levels”

Ogunsakin, called on Ekiti State government not to leave the family of the sports icon who contributed immensely as he discovered and nurtured many players who have represented the state and the country at different local and international competitions.

“While we acknowledge the state government for its efforts at improving sports, we equally call for more attention in the area of facilities at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, most especially indoor hall and as well better welfare packages for the sports men and women.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Mr.  Micheal Awopetu, promised government determination to continue to develop sports in the state.

The Sponsor of the Annual SWAN Cup, Mr. Steve Alabi, said he would continue to contribute his own quota to sports development in the state and Nigeria.

Also, present were former permanent secretary in the state, Mr Yemi Owoseni, the chairman Ekiti State Football Association, Mr Bayo Olanlege, as well as the Vice president, South West SWAN, Mr Seun Alabi,-Obe, who represented the national secretariat.
