The Ekiti State government has launched a school mass transit scheme, which will allow public school students to enjoy free rides to and from school.
The Permanent Secretary, the General Administration Department (GAD), Mr James Owolabi, disclosed this Sunday.
He said the free bus ride was to mitigate the effect of the high cost of transportation on civil servants and parents amid the high cost of living occasioned by subsidy removal.
Owolabi said the free school bus operation would commence today (Monday) from 6.30 am to 8.00 am and 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm daily within the Ado Ekiti metropolis.
