Gboyega Aribisogan, representing Ikole Constituency 1, has been elected as the new Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
He was elected Speaker during Tuesday’s plenary, polling 15 votes to defeat Olubunmi Adelugba (Emure Constituency), who got 10 votes.

He replaced the former Ekiti State Assembly speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, who died on October 19, 2022, after suffering cardiac arrest.
After being sworn-in by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Tola Esan, the new speaker pledged to discharge his duties to the best of his ability and protect the constitution of the country and the standing rules of the House of Assembly.
Before his election as Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan was the Leader of Government Business and a second-term lawmaker in the Ekiti State legislature, having been elected as a member of the 5th Assembly between 2015 – 2019.
