Eight injured as APC, PDP clash in Akwa-Ibom town

Eight persons have been allegedly injured in a clash between the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Ward 9, unit 007, Nsit Atai local council area of Akwa Ibom State.

It was gathered that the injured persons who were APC supporters were macheted during a battle with the PDP supporters and have been taken to Itu Mbang General Hospital.

A chieftain of APC from the area, Dr. Edem, who spoke with some journalists at his residence, stated that PDP-armed thugs, in connivance with security personnel, stopped APC supporters from coming around the polling units to cast their votes.

He accused the House member of Nsit Atai, Mark Essiet of instigating the violence in the area, stating that one of the injured persons hospitalised at the Itu Mbang Hospital may never survive the attack.
