Sheikh Aminu Daurawa speaking to Daily trust on "Where proposed Kano Family Law went wrong" stated that there are eight categories of unmarried women in Kano.
According to him "a survey we recently conducted in Kano showed that we have eight categories of unmarried women. One, most of women politicians in Kano are not married.
Two, most of our women lecturers are not married.
Three, most of our women principals are not married.
Four, most of our women permanent secretaries are not married.
Five, most of our women civil servants are not married.
Six, most of our women lawyers are not married.
Seven, most of our women doctors are not married.
and eight, most of our businesswomen are not married.
This is coupled with unmarried girls we have in tertiary institutions and secondary schools in the state. So, tell me, if you bring a law that would make marriage difficult in the state, where can these women get husbands?"
