Eid: FRSC, NSCDC deploy 3,793 officers in Edo, Ondo, Benue

He said the operatives would ensure that critical corridor and other parts of the state

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have deployed 3,793 personnel in Edo, Ondo and Benue for a safe and free movement during the Eid-El Kabir celebration.

In Edo State, the Sector Commander of FRSC, Henry Benamaisia, said 1,250 officers have been deployed to ensure a crash-free motoring environment during the celebration.

“Aside from the personnel, we are also deploying 25 patrols vehicles, two heavy-duty tow truck vehicles, one tow van, and three ambulances across the state in order to ensure quick response services,” he said.

He said the operatives would ensure that critical corridor and other parts of the state were adequately covered while potential traffic gridlock areas would be manned to ensure free movement of vehicles.

The sector commander listed the critical corridors to include Benin-Ekiadolor-Ovia -Okada-Ohosu road, Benin-Iruekpen-Ekpoma, Ewu-Agbede-Auchi-Auchi,(4)Benin-Okhuahe-Ogheneki-Agbor road, Benin-Ologbo axis among others.

He advised road users to endeavour to cultivate the habit of discipline, patient, maintain lane discipline and tolerance and obey traffic laws and FRSC operatives as they travel through the state.

FRSC in Benue State said it has deployed 579 Regular Marshals and 107 Special Marshals for patrol, rescue and traffic control during Eid celebration.

The Sector Commander, Yakubu Mohammed, in a statement, called on road users to be safety conscious and to abide by all safety rules and regulations during the celebration and beyond.

He warned motorists to desist from desperation for making more money during the period because that could lead to over-speeding and crashes.

He assured members of the public that FRSC would always be ready to respond positively on rescue operations 24/7 and will also partner with all stakeholders to ensure safe road use in the state.

Similarly, the Ondo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Hammed Abodunrin, said 1,857 personnel had been deployed to provide adequate security before, during and after the Eid Kabir celebration.

He disclosed this in a statement by the command Public Relations Officer, Olufemi Omole.

He urged the public to collaborate with all security agencies by providing credible information that would assist them to nip in the bud all forms of criminalities.

He said officers would be deployed to Eid prayer grounds, mosques, recreational centres, motor parks, churches and other public areas.
