Eid el-Kabir: FCT reviews school calendar

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has approved the review of the 2016/2017 academic calendar for all primary and post-primary schools in the territory.
With the review, schools would re-open for the first term on September 18 and end the term December 17.
The City News gathered that the review was necessitated by  the Eid el-Kabir celebrations scheduled for September 12.
A statement issued by the Head of Information, Education Secretariat, Anthony Ogunleye, said that the new calendar affected public and private schools in the territory.
The statement read: “Second  term begins on Sunday, 9th January 2017 and ends on Friday, 31st March 2017. Third term begins on Sunday, 23rd April 2017 and ends on Friday, 21st July 2017.” It enjoined schools to comply with the directive.
Boarding schools were earlier scheduled to resume September 4 while day schools were to re-open September 5, 2016.
