Former governors under the auspices of the Former Governors Forum have felicitated with all Muslim faithful on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

The forum in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by its Chairman, Dr Babangida Aliyu, and its Executive Secretary, Prof. Tunde Esan, respectively, said the celebration is a good reminder of the major standpoint of Islam, as a religion of peace.

The forum also called on all Nigerians to eschew bitterness and continue to pray for a great future for the country.

“Former Governors Forum heartily and warmly greet Muslim Umma and the generality of Nigerians on this year celebration of Ed El Kabir. The fundamentals of the celebration approximate love, togetherness and harmony. These are some of the basics of oneness and unity that our nation’s needs and should propagate at this difficult period.

“We therefore use this occasion to appeal to all Nigerians to work towards appreciating the uniqueness of our heterogeneous and multicultural society, and work towards love for one another, irrespective of tribe, tongue and geographical location.

“Former Governors Forum wishes all the blessings of Allah and may peace, progress, long life and prosperity be our portion, and that of our loved ones, as we celebrate this year Eid-El-Kabir,” the forum said.
