The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) says efforts to enhance Nigeria’s industrial growth and ensure that products adhere to standards is currently yielding results
Director General of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, made this disclosure during the World Standards Day celebration in Abuja on Saturday.
The theme for the 2024 celebration, “Shared Vision for a Better World,” highlights Sustainable Development Goal Number 9 (SDG 9) of the United Nations, which focuses on industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
Okeke said: “Standards are crucial in achieving these goals and in facilitating the development of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices and so far our efforts to ensure that products adhere to standards is yielding results.

“Standardization is the bedrock of industrialization and crucial for everything done in SON.”
He elaborated on SON’s role in enhancing quality assurance through regulation, certification, and conformity assessment.
In his closing remarks, Engr. Yahaya Bukat, the Director of Standards, affirmed SON’s commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to enhance quality assurance as a means to grow the country’s economy.
