The court ruled that Shema be held in EFCC custody till April 27 when it resumes sitting to hear his bail application.

Immediately after the ruling, EFCC personnel alongside other security operatives cordoned off the court area as his supporters were seen in clusters discussing the outcomes.

Later at about 5.53pm, Shema was whisked away in an 18-seat white Nissan Bus with registration number BWR 629 AT to Kano office of the commission.

Inside the bus were operatives of the EFCC and the state party chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Salisu Majigiri just as Shema was waving to some party faithful.

Shema is arraigned on 26 count charge of conspiracy and money laundering of about N5.776 billion—funds from Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P)/

He pleaded not guilty.

Shema had at one time spent 14 days in EFCC custody ahead of his first arraignment in another case of alleged misappropriation of about N11b local government funds.

The case is still ongoing at the state High Court.
