Surprisingly, none of the anti- corruption agencies in the country deemed it fit to wade into the issue and scrutinize the financial records of the council despite the wide publicity the matter has generated. The alleged annexation of the local government treasury by the council chairman since 2003 has done a lot of damage to the council.
In view of the above, and the seeming tactical support the chairman allegedly enjoyed from virtually all the domestic oversight agencies, it’ s time for Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to wade in and investigate the allegations in order to set the records straight.
