Nigeria National League (NNL) side, EFCC FC Abuja, emerged champions of the 2022 Unity Pre-season tournament after they edged NPFL giants, Nasarawa United 4-3 on penalties in the finals decided over the weekend in Abuja.

The final match which was watched by a capacity crowd at the Area 3 football field Garki ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

On resumption, the more experienced Nasarawa United who were runners-up in the 2021 edition of the tournament, took the game to their opponents and were rewarded in the 55th minute when Joshua John capitalized on a mix-up in the EFCC defence to score the equalizer.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the pre-season tournament and former vice-chairman of the FCT FA, Patrick Ngwaogu, expressed the appreciation of the organisers to various football stakeholders for supporting them to ensure the successful completion of the competition.
